Security Sales Reps Use Skills to Give Back to the Community

PROVO, UTAH – Friday night, nearly 400 representatives from Platinum Protection canvassed the Wasatch Front, but not to sell security systems. This time, they were using their skills to gather food for local food banks.

“We have broken the record the last two years as the fastest growing alarm company in the history of our industry by knocking doors,” said Jeremy Pixton, a co-owner of Platinum Protection. “This time the record we wanted to break was giving back to those that are in need and doing it by knocking doors. We felt this was a good opportunity to teach our employees the value of giving back.”

Friday night’s effort broke the record for the largest one-day, door-to-door corporate food drive, bringing in a grand total of 34,000 pounds of food.

The donations will go to the Community Action Food Bank in Utah County and the Utah Food Bank in Salt Lake County.

“We are so grateful to Platinum for their hard work last weekend,” said Myla Dutton, Executive Director of Community Action Services and Food Bank, the food bank serving Utah, Summit and Wasatch Counties. “We hope to see more businesses get involved this way in the future.”

Sales representatives, technicians and corporate employees from Platinum Protection all participated in the event. They went door to door in Salt Lake, Utah and Cache Counties thanking the community for their past donations and providing another opportunity to give.

They loaded all the food donations into trucks and trailers and then met up at Thanksgiving Point in Lehi. From there, the workers took the food to the food banks.

“It was a great opportunity for the company to do some service,” said Andres Sosa, a Platinum employee who participated in the food drive. “It just blew my mind to see the amount of food we brought in. It was also great to see how many people were willing to donate.”

Platinum Protection Helps Secure More Than 50,000 Homes in Summer 2008

See the International Business TImes and Yahoo News for the story.

Platinum Protection continues its plans to secure homes across the nation as its customer base swells to nearly 90,000.

Platinum Protection, a Provo based home security company, helped secure more than 55,000 homes across the country this year. This brings the two-year-old alarm company's total customer base to nearly 90,000. This year's unprecedented growth has fueled ambitioins for the company to continue its plans for expanding efforts to protect homes all across America.

"Our team is one of the best in this industry," said Jared Hallows, CEO of Platinum Protection. "They, along with our customers, are the reason for our success."

Platinum Protection made waves in 2007 as the first summer model alarm company to secure more than 30,000 homes in its first full year of operations. The feat was showcased in a December 2007 article in the industry publication Security Systems News.

"Regardless of the high number of installs, it's about satisfying customers and protecting what's most important to them," said Chance Allred, one of the owners of Platinum.

"Our success means nothing without the many stories of homes and lives that have been saved by the services we offer," said Allred.

Kim, a customer in Maryland whose new house was broken into shortly after purchasing an alarm from Platinum had this to say about the service.

"When we arrived home, we noticed the markings on one of our doors evidencing the attempted break-in. The only thing that provided us with comfort and security was knowing that we had the Platinum alarm system installed and we were safe as a result of it," she wrote.

Another factor in Platinum's rise in the home security industry is the company's relationships with GE Security, Platinum's equipment provider, along with Monitronics and Alarm.com who provide alarm monitoring services.

"GE Security is pleased to be able to work with the Platinum team to help so many homeowners across the U.S. achieve the sense of security that the combination of Platinum service and great security products affords." said Kirk MacDowell, residential business leader, GE Security. "We look forward to Platinum's continued success."

See Yahoo News, the Provo Daily Herald, and HubSpot.com for the story.

Platinum Protection recently donated over $20,000 to Ryan Thompson, a local Utah boy who survived a life-threatening disease and a liver transplant. The constant medical care Ryan received has maxed out his family's insurance benefits leaving them with high medical costs they are required to pay on a fixed income. Platinum will continue to solicit donations from employees but the company is encouraging help from other individuals and organizations able and willing to chip in for the cause.

Provo, UT (PRWEB) October 2, 2008 -- In an effort to help aid a Utah family in need, Platinum Protection, a Provo-based home alarm company, recently donated $22,500 to the Ryan Thompson Liver Fund. Platinum employees plan to continue donations to the fund but wish to invite more individuals and organizations to chip in to help the Thompson family.

"What Platinum Protection has helped us with is phenomenal," said Timothy Thompson, Ryan Thompson's father.

Ryan is a 17-year-old Eagle Scout from Huntington Utah who was recently diagnosed with a rare combination of liver and lung diseases. Having maxed out insurance benefits after numerous surgeries and a successful liver transplant, Ryan's family is struggling to pay the mounting medical bills and ongoing medication costs.

"We've sold everything we could sell," said Mr. Thompson.

Donations from Platinum are part of an on-going charity effort from all employees to help alleviate the financial burden weighing on the Thompson family.

"We wanted to show that we care and we hope we can be of help to the Thompson's," said Jared Hallows, CEO of Platinum Protection.

"We want to encourage everyone who can to donate," said Hallows, "This family needs our help."

Individuals may donate by visiting HelpRyanNow.com. Or you can visit your local Wells Fargo Bank and make a deposit in the Ryan Thompson Liver Fund.

Platinum Hits the Ground Running

By Martha Entwistle, managing editor, Dec 2007

OREM, Utah. A newcomer to the summer model alarm companies, Platinum Protection opened its doors in October 2006 and turned heads this fall after generating 30,000 accounts in its first year in business.
According to Chance Allred, one of the six principals in the company, this number is record-breaking for a first-year company. The company had set its sights on selling 20,000 accounts in its first year, with 16 offices across the country. Allred said Platinum produced an office average of "1,900 account in just over four months. The Houston office installed the most systems, generating 4,263 accounts over the summer. Monitronics provides third-party monitoring and has purchased a portion of the accounts.
So how'd they do it? Although the company is new, the six principals are experienced veterans, and, according to Allred, represent some of the top performers to have worked at other summer model alarm companies. Allred, Jared Hallows, Jeremy Pixton, and Keith Dyer all came from ApxAlarm, the largest summer-model company. Jacob Pruitt and Derrick Schutz were at Utah-based Pinnacle Protection.
Allred said the principals have taken what they've learned in terms of training and management and structuring a pay scale elsewhere and improved on it when they founded Platinum Protection. They've also integrated the IT systems with Monitronics' billing and payroll system.
Mike Haislip, president and CEO of Monitronics, said in an email interview that his company has "worked with many of the major summer dealers since 2003. Platinum pulled off a major feat this year by going from zero units last year to having by far the most productive first year in the history of summer programs." More importantly, he said, "they did it with class and integrity. They were great to work with and we expect even bigger things from them in the future."
Next summer, Allred expects "to do over 60,000 accounts at a minimum because we have the most talented people in the industry." A total of 307 reps and 16 managers finished the season.
The average rep pulled down $32,000 for the summer, while a manager made about $200,000. Three reps who sold 300 accounts over the 100 days of the summer made $170,000 for the summer.
With those kinds of results, "Many college students start out doing this as a summer job and then decide to turn it into a career," Allred said.

Monitronics Dealer of the Month

September 2007 issue of The Monitor

Platinum Protection, LLC was founded in the fall of 2006 by a group of owners with plenty of industry experience under their belts. Jared Hallows, Jeremy Pixton, Chance Allred and Keith Dyer were all veterans of summer sales, all knocking doors to start and moving their way up in their respective companies before deciding to start their own company. They teamed up with Derrick Schutz who was the CFO for another company in the industry and would handle the financial end of their business, as well as Jake Pruitt, who has had years of experience on the installation side. They formed a business model, based on personal experiences and feedback that they received first hand from customers and reps. It involved providing a high energy, positive and supportive environment for their sales reps, tech and employees while providing the very service and support to their customers. They felt that these practices would ensure success and customer / employee satisfaction.
The name Platinum is a token to their dedication to excellence and their goal to be the very best.
Platinum started out with high expectations for their first year of business, seeking to install 30,000 accounts during their first year. An achievement no dealer in the industry has ever come close to achieving. Despite the challenges of this lofty goal, they set to work immediately to pursue it. They teamed up with Monitronics, because of our proven track record with developing summer program dealers, our consistency in the industry and our commitment to providing them the best possible support for their growing business.
After several months of tedious planning, vigorous recruiting and labor intensive preparations, Platinum kicked off their pre-season in March of ’07. They opened several offices across the country and staffed a large corporate office as well, bringing on over 600 employees overall. After rapping up their main summer program at the end of August, the results were in. They installed over 30,000 accounts as forecasted! This is the first time any alarm company has achieved this level of volume in their first year, easily 10 times more than the previous high, and they received an award from Monitronics commemorating the achievement. This total number was the culmination of huge successes in the field. Their reps had some of the highest averages in the industry and several offices and reps broke industry records with the number of sales they achieved.
The success in the field was mirrored by the success in the corporate office. Customer service and the administration staff kept up with the huge demands of the large volume that came in. Throughout the summer they maintained a positive and supportive atmosphere for their employees while staying organized and responsive to their customers and field reps.
When asked what makes Platinum different from their competitors, Keith replied, “All of the owners at Platinum, which are involved in the sales program, have knocked doors for many years. We have experienced exactly what it’s like to knock a door, manage a team and to manage at a corporate level. Therefore we can tailor our program to accommodate the needs of our employees…We have witnessed first hand the difference that an alarm system can make in the lives of a customer… We understand how a well installed system; with high quality service can provide peace of mind and safety for a customer and their family. This gives us the ability to cater our program, to provide the optimal situation for our people to succeed and for our customers to receive the service and support they deserve.”
When asked what keeps Platinum successful Keith replied, “It is vital in any industry to recognize that yesterday’s performance will not be sufficient for today. It is crucial to refine practices and policies each year. We focus much of our time on training our employees to reach for a higher standard of excellence.”
Platinum is very pleased with this year’s success and is inspired to increase their volume and continue to grow for many years to come.

Using GE Verify Helps Platinum Protection Customers Avoid Fraud

Given the proliferation of door-to-door security system sales companies, Platinum Protection, in conjunction with GE Security, is working to help customers understand the partnership between Platinum and GE Security. Platinum management recommends customers login to www.gesecurityverify.com and view Platinum Protection among the list of authorized GE Security dealers.
“GE is one of our most important strategic business partners,” said Chance Allred, a principal owner of Utah-based Platinum Protection, “We want our customers to know without a doubt that we are an authorized GE Security dealer so they can feel confident in the services we provide.”
Founded in the fall of 2006, Platinum Protection began as a vision in the eyes of several summer alarm company managers who were convinced they could start their own company and build it around a high level of employee achievement, ethical values and customer service. Based on that goal, Platinum Protection rolled out its first summer of operations in 2007 and sold a record-breaking 30,000 accounts in four months.
In the fall of 2007, Platinum began searching for new and improved security systems products that would allow customers web-access to their security system. It was then that GE Security was approached and a new partnership was formed. Platinum management agreed on the strengths of the GE Simon XT and Concord 4 control systems and decided to partner up as an authorized GE Security dealer. Through this partnership with GE, Platinum also began to use Alarm.com for its web-based security system services.
“We’ve been pleased with GE and the quality of the Simon XT and Concord,” Allred said, “we’re proud to be able to walk up to our customers’ doors with the GE logo on our uniform.”
Founded by Thomas Edison in 1878, the General Electric Company built itself as a familiar name in homes across the nation by manufacturing and distributing the latest in home-use technology based products. According to the GE Security website, GE Security is a wholly owned subsidiary of the General Electric Company which focuses on communication and information technologies for security, safety and lifestyle enhancements. It has operations in more than 30 countries and offers the latest in intrusion, fire detection, access and building control, video surveillance, key management and structured wiring.

Platinum Protection Launches Press Website

May 07, 2008

Platinum Protection, a leader in wireless security systems sales and technical support, recently unveiled PlatinumNewsCenter.com in an effort to provide customers, employees and media representatives a portal to press releases and stories in the news related to Platinum Protection.
"We are excited to unveil PlatinumNewsCenter.com," said Chance Allred, part owner of Platinum Protection, "We feel it will provide a needed media venue for not only members of the news media, but our customers as well."
As Platinum Protection begins its second full season of selling in over 39 markets across the U.S., management at Platinum began to feel a need for a website where Platinum can display press releases, customer reviews and news articles/stories that appear regarding the alarm company.
"We've had the idea for a while now to do a website based around the needs of customers and news media and their efforts to learn more about Platinum from trusted sources," Allred said, "We're glad PlatinumNewsCenter.com now gives us that outlet."
As Platinum Protection continues to expand into a nationwide company with customers in several major cities, providing customers with timely and up-to-date information regarding the company became a central part of its growth strategy. PlatinumProtectionNews.com seeks to be a catalyst for open communication on the web and an official source of news and information regarding Platinum.
"We hope everyone, especially the news media and our current customers, will become familiar with the site and take away from it any answers to questions they may have about our program," Allred said.
